About the project
“The Verge” is a worldbuilding project I worked on for my graduation from university about how a fictional culture copes with climate change and each other when resources become scarce. Through a interactive map the user can visit and explore the world through visual storytelling.
The story
The inhabitants of Farallian are struggling with desertification in a far stage. The carefree time in which they lived in prosperity and welfare are now covered under layers of sand. Drinking water keeps getting scarcer while the sea level keeps rising. Some choose to fight to keep their old way of living intact as much as they can, while others try to adapt to the tough circumstances and find new ways of living.
Environment Concept Design - CGMA
During this project I followed the Environment Concept Design course at CGMA. Here I got weekly feedback from a senior concept artist, Kristian Llana, to further improve my concept art skills to get a better result for my project as a whole. Below you can see a bit of the process and the progress on the designing of one of the cities in Farallian, Misthold.
